Select the ‘Structure Place’ button from the Linear Draft toolbar and follow the prompts.
At this point you should select one marker.
After selecting the marker point, accept the choice by right clicking the mouse button. A new prompt will appear asking you to select the rails.
Left and right rail selection will define the orientation of the structure and its annotation box, therefore, the left and right rails must be chosen as if you were looking at the rails in direction of increasing chainage.
In the example below, the chainage is increasing from right to left.
Accept the rail selection by left clicking the mouse button. Once accepted, another prompt will appear asking you to select the right rail. The right rail for a soffit attachment will be the corresponding rail from the one previously selected.
Accept the selection by left clicking the mouse button and the ‘Create Structure’ form will be displayed.
Choose type 'Soffit'.
The ‘Create Structure’ form shows a view of the structure and displays boxes that require text to be added as well as displaying engineering values that can be edited.
There is no Label, Mast Length, Gap, ToF or Foundation, as the Soffit structure will be attached directly to the roof within a tunnel or under a bridge.
The Bearing, height of the Soffit (height is determined from the height of the tunnel roof above sea level), Length of the droptube, Bearing of the droptube and RECOS can be edited at this point.
Once you have configured the soffit structure, click ‘Confirm’ to continue.
As there is no Easting, Northing, ToF or RECOS to a soffit attachment, the 2D representation on the plan view will only show the structure name and its chainage along track.
There will be a visual representation of a soffit attachment in the 3D view. The attachment will be suspended at the correct height, whereas in the real world it will be attached to a tunnel roof or under a bridge.
Brackets, equipment and wires can all be attached to the attachment and will also be shown in the 3D view.
