To add an anchor to a structure, choose a structure that can support anchoring equipment or edit an already placed structure so that it can.
To access the anchoring equipment, navigate to the ‘Wire Manager’ located in the Linear Draft toolbar and then click ‘Edit’ on the structure that you want to be an anchor.
The 'Configure' form will be displayed.
Enter the required configuration of the anchor by choosing the appropriate options from the drop-down menus in ‘Support’ and ‘Span’.
When 'Anchor' has been chosen in the 'Support' drop-down menu the wire will be automatically updated to 'out-of-running'.
Messenger Wire, System Height and Contact Wire are all configurable at this point too.
N.B. The checkboxes besides the 'Messenger Wire' and 'Contact Wire' fields allow the wire to be anchored at two separate structures. Full details of how to do this can be found here.
Check the ‘Equipment’ box, to expand the form.
Confirm the attachment point and then click ‘Add’ in the bracket column of the form.
The ‘Add Bracket’ form will be displayed. Use the drop-down menu to select the anchoring equipment. Anchor equipment will be the only equipment available as the ‘Support’ has already been set to ‘Anchor’.
At this point, you will have two options for each type of available anchor, ‘Front’ and ‘Back’. This is to identify on which side of the mast the anchor equipment is to be placed.
‘Front’ is determined from looking at the structure in a forward facing cross sectional view and ‘Back’ is the reverse side. Once you have chosen the bracket, click ‘Confirm’. You will see the ‘Wire Support’ is now populated with your choice of anchor.
Click ‘Confirm’ to accept and place into your model.
In the example above, the tensioning device used are Tensorex and these can be seen in the picture below.
