Our hot topic for January is the Linear Draft 'Views' functionality.
In this article, we will take a look at some of the key functionality and some best practice guidelines to maximise the way you use the feature.
Below is a brief explanation of what each view option will enable you to do.
3D: View model in 3D (turns off all 2D levels) and changes the Display Style to 'Smooth'.
2D: View model in 2D plan layout (turns off all 3D levels) and changes the Display Style to 'Wireframe'.
Cross Section: View individual structure in a forward facing cross-section elevation and changes the Display Style to 'Hidden Line'.
Back: View individual structure in a backward facing cross-section elevation and changes the Display Style to 'Hidden Line'.
Left: View individual structure 90° clockwise around the Z-axis from Cross Section view and changes the Display Style to 'Hidden Line'.
Right: View individual structure 90° counter-clockwise around the Z-axis from Cross Section view and changes the Display Style to 'Hidden Line'.
Top: View individual structure in top view with the track lines aligned along the X-axis and changes the Display Style to 'Hidden Line'.
All Levels: Turns on all 2D and 3D levels.
Selection: Highlight associated items to either a structure or a wire.
The Linear Draft 'Views' can be used in conjunction with one another, with more than one view being able to be used at any one time (in separate windows). Whilst using the 'Views' this way, you are able to see your model in multiple dimensions. The video below demonstrates how to set this up:
Once you have configured your views, you will now be able to see how working this way can enhance your design experience. Changes you make will be displayed in all of your chosen views and you will see live previews of any potential change in all windows. The video below demonstrates this further:
Along with all of the view options that are described above, Linear Draft also has two other view functionality, they are:
- View 'All Levels'
- View 'Selection'
View 'All Levels' gives you the ability to turn on all 3D and 2D levels, whereas View 'Selection' allows you to see specific structures/wires and each element that is associated with them.
The functionality for these additional View items are demonstrated in the video below:
