The 'Merge Models' feature will allow you to take multiple Linear Draft models and join them together to make a single model.
To use 'Merge Models' feature you must run 'Linear Draft Power Tools.exe'.
This will be stored in your Linear Draft saved location. e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Zebraware\Linear Draft\PowerTools
The 'Linear Draft Power Tools' form will be displayed. Select 'Merge Model'.
Select 'Merge Models'.
The 'Linear Draft Power Tools - Merge Models' form will be displayed.
Click 'File>Load Primary Model'. Choose the DataModel file that you want to load. Information on how to export a DataModel can be found here.
Once you have loaded your model into the form, it will be displayed in the 'Primary Wires' column.
The model will be displayed in accordance with the number of wires that are in your model. It will also display the number of wire points that there is on each wire.
To load in a second model, Click 'File>Load Secondary Model'. Choose the DataModel file that you want to load.
Once you have loaded your model into the form, it will be displayed in the 'Secondary Wires' column.
The model will again be displayed in accordance with the number of wires that are in your model. It will also display the number of wire points that there is on each wire.
If the wires in the 'Primary Wires' & 'Secondary Wires' wires are different, you are able to merge the two models into a single model by clicking 'Merge>Confirm'.
If the wires are the same (the wires span across multiple models), then you need to merge these wires together first. This is performed by clicking 'Merge>Similar'.
The similarly named wires will be grouped together in the 'Merged Wires' column and automatically given a new name.
The new wire name can be edited by double-clicking the wire name. The 'Edit New Wire Name' form will be displayed.
If required, rename the wire and click 'Confirm'. The wire name will now be updated.
The 'Merged Wires' column can be cleared by clicking 'Merge>Remove All'.
To begin the process of merging the models, click 'Merge>Confirm'.
The wires will now be displayed in the 'Primary Wires' column. Note that the total number of wire points has now updated to include all wire points from both models.
To save the new DataModel, click 'File>Save'.
You will now save the new model as its own DataModel. This can then be imported into your CAD file using the Linear Draft 'Data Import' functionality. Full details of how to import a DataModel can be found here.
N.B. The 'Merge Models' functionality requires models to be built using Linear Draft Version 2019.1.197.3989 or newer.
If the models you are trying to merge have been built in a previous version, then they must be rebuilt with the latest version prior to using 'Merge Model'.
